Sweet Puppy Remains Nameless

This is not MY puppy, but he looks very much like the puppy who will make her home with me in two weeks. My puppy has these same eyes, the ones that beg you to give her whatever she wants. My female black lab friend needs a name, though. Any thoughts? I love the name Luna, but she just doesn't look like a Luna to me. Currently, the breeders are calling her Paws (because of the paws on her collar), but I don't love that name. She is one of the smaller pups in her litter. All 8 of them are black, with only 2 having any noticeable white markings. Paws has a few little white hairs on her chest, but not even enough to be called a "patch" of white. If I planned to show her or something, it would be enough to disqualify her, but not enough to name her for the patch, as her sister Blaze has been named.

Help me name my new friend!

Erin, I love her already!
I'm not in love with Luna either. How about Naomi? or Delilah? or Sari? Some cool female biblical name...

Erin says that her roommate names all of her female dogs for cities in Alaska. The one she mentioned that I like is Cordova. Cool name, huh? I might just have to look over some maps and see what catches my eye.

PS I'm so glad you're getting Paws! She was my favorite :) I also like Sheri's idea ... what about Jael? Wait, too violent. Vashti? Too disobedient. Hmm. Better keep thinking on that one ... ooh she is a retriever - what was the name of the Pharoah's daughter who rescued Moses? Did she have a name?

Nanny,

I believe Pharoah's daughter's name was Naphtali...or something similar. Too many Bible facts have fallen out of my head in recent years. I'll have to look it up.

In the vein of biblical names, howzabouts "Tamar"? Orpah? Gomer? Or if you wanna go NT...Dorcas? Priscilla?

I personally would likely go with a synonym of black. My favorites are Jet, Onyx, Slate and (most of all) Obsidian.
